He attended Chingford County High School in Ridgeway Park, Chingford and took great interest in the sport of football. His parents were both huge fans of Manchester United, and would often travel 200 miles (320 km) to Old Trafford from London to attend the team’s home game matches.
Beckham inherited his love for the game and for Manchester United from his parents, and attended Bobby Charlton’s soccer schools in Manchester. This awarded him his first training session with Barcelona. He also played for a local youth team called Ridgeway Rovers, later being awarded Under-15 Player of the Year in 1990 on a two-year stint with Brimsdown Rovers.

Beckham began his professional football career with Manchester United, signing as a trainer on July 8, 1991. He went on to help the club win the FA Youth Cup in May 1992.
On December 7, 1994 Beckham made his Champions League debut, scoring a goal in 4-0 home victory. Later, he then went to Preston North End in the 1994-1995 season, scoring two goals in five matches. From 1995-1996, Beckham returned to Manchester and made his Premier League debut in a match against leeds. Beckham dominated English football from the mid to late 1990’s, having won ”the treble” in 1999 (Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League).
Beckham played center midfield in Manchester United’s win against Bayern Munich in the 1999 UEFA Champions League Finals. United was losing 1-0, however, won the the match by scoring two goals in injury time both assisted by Beckham. He played for Manchester United until 2003, later joining Real Madrid from 2003-2007. Beckham would then move to Los Angeles in 2007 to play for LA Galaxy with two loan out years to AC Milan in 2009 and 2010.
In 2011, he became an MLS Cup champion followed with a second consecutive cup in 2012. Him and his teammates were recognized by the President of the United States, Barack Obama at the White House. Beckham announced in May 2013 that he would be retiring, playing his final season with Paris Saint Germain.
