Usain Bolt was born August 21, 1986 in Sherwood Content, Jamaica. He has a sister named Sherine, and a brother named Sadiki. Bolt’s parents ran a local grocery store in there area growing up. He would often spend time in the streets playing sports such a football and cricket. Bolt is an avid football fan and his favourite teams are Real Madrid and Manchester United.

He attended William Knibb Memorial High School in Jamaica, where he took great interest in cricket. However, his coach insisted that he tried track & field. With a history of breeding successful athlete’s, his coaches encouraged him to focus on improving his athletic capabilities. He would later go on to win his first Silver medal in 200m at his high school championship in 2001.

Career

Bolt began his professional career in 2004 under the guidance of coach Fitz Coleman, at the CARIFTA Games in Bermuda. For the second time, he was awarded the Austin Sealy Trophy for the most outstanding athlete at the CARIFTA Games.

He chose to stay in Jamaica to study and train at the University of Technology, Jamaica. This was his opportunity to grow, train and study to become the best before the next Olympic games. By 2008, Bolt won three Gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Furthermore, he became the first man in Olympic games history to win both the 100m and 200m races in record times.

In 2012, Bolt defended his Olympic titles at the 2012 London Olympics, beating out his own record of 9.63s in the 100m sprint. He would set a new Olympic record making him the first man in history to set three world records in an Olympic competition. The Gold medal victory would come hours before Jamaica celebrated its 50th Anniversary of its independence from the United Kingdom.

In 2016, Bolt went on to win a Gold medal in the 100m, 200m and 4x 100m relay races. Bolt is the only sprinter to win Olympic 100m and 200m titles at three consecutive Olympics (2008, 2012, 2016).
